Description
If you’re searching for the perfect platform for your fretboard wizardry, you’re in the right place. The Wolfgang Special is the axe of your dreams. The WG Special exhibits a growling, mid-forward acoustic tone centered around a solid basswood body with enough definition to cut through a hard-rocking band. Beyond that, the WG Special features a bolt-on maple neck with a nice, oiled feel and a fast-playing compound-radius 22-fret fingerboard.
The EVH Wolfgang Special comes equipped with direct-mount Wolfgang humbuckers. These scorching-hot pickups offer a first-class ticket to Edward Van Halen’s elusive tone. We’ll give you fair warning: plug this solidbody electric guitar into your high-gain amplifier of choice, and you’ll be bowled over with singing highs, snarling mids, and fat lows — a.k.a., the legendary brown sound — with all the amp-punishing output you can handle. The WG Special includes a volume knob with a treble-bleed circuit to maintain shimmering highs at low settings, plus a tone knob and a 3-way pickup toggle switch.
No self-respecting EVH disciple can resist King Edward’s trademark squeals and dive-bombs. Accordingly, the Wolfgang Special is set to stun with an EVH-branded Floyd Rose Special double-locking tremolo. Whether you give it a slight nudge for a subtle vibrato or abuse it for full-blown pitch pyrotechnics, you’ll experience the same response and tuning stability that you’d expect from a Floyd Rose. On top of that, you can easily switch to Drop D tuning, courtesy of the WG Special’s D-Tuna. We’ve subjected the WG Special to a fair share of aggressive treatment here at Sweetwater, and it hit the ground runnin’ — it’s rock solid all the way.
