As I'm sure you'll remember, Project One – and getting there – was pretty challenging for me. What a world of difference Project Two was. Being able to "connect the dots" visually with either GetBootstrap.com or the themes played a massive difference for me.
New skills: Obviously having a better feel and understanding of Bootstrap. But, I think more importantly for me, was to start with a base, and then spend the time focused on the tweaks and adjustements – the details of how to make it my own. I think I got more comfortable with the classes in CSS and having a bit more fun with those to get what I wanted.
Struggles: "More comfortable" by no means sped me up. In fact, I think that increase in confidence made me want to explore more and feel like I can do wayyyy more than I was capable of taking on. The biggest example of this was renaming all of my theme html and disconnecting all of the custom css that came with the theme and breaking literally everything. "Baby steps" was the phrase that came to mind the most as I rebuilt panel two leaving myself notes along the way. I also could never get the "Dropdown Link" to work on Panel One. I must have redone that 15 times and could never get the code to work within the nav to operate correctly. So I ended up just breaking the nav with a bar and having regular links in the main navbar. Not ideal, but they all worked wll in the themed panels.
Pride: It looks SO MUCH BETTER than project one! My goodness, what a difference. My Panel two and three look pretty decent. It also allowed me to spend a bit more time on image searching and trying to balance the time and effort here to get something I was pretty happy with.
Additional things to learn: Definately more with themes and taking constructs and systems that exist like Bootcamp and really being able to visually build sites. I know we're moving fast during a summer session, but I would like to spend more time on these theme builds – something I can obviously keep playing with though.
